Fuzzy knit hat

I wanted to make a hat to match the fuzzy blanket I made for my friend's baby-to-be. It seems pretty impossible to find a hat made with super fuzzy yarn so I improvised.

I made two sizes since I am terrible at gauge and the first size came out bigger than I planned.

Materials:

Yarn Bee Frosting in three colors, Hot Berries, Barely Iced, White Iced
Size 10.5, 6.5 mm double pointed needles

Newborn size: Circumference 14 inches, height 4 1/2 inches

Cast on 36 stitches in Hot Berries, double stranded. Join to work in the round. To avoid gap of joining, transfer 1st stitch to third needle, then slip last stitch over this first stitch and transfer stitch to first needle.

With Barely Iced, knit 8 rounds.

Change to White Iced and knit 3 rounds.

Change to Barely Iced and knit 1 round.

Crown shaping:
Round 1: *K2, k2tog* rep to end, 27 st.
Round 2: *K1, k2tog* rep to end, 18 st.
Round 3: *K2tog* rep around, 9 st.
Round 4: Knit

Break off yarn, thread through remaining loops and pull tight.

Toddler size: Circumference 20 inches, height 6 inches

Cast on 45 stitches in Hot Berries, double stranded. Join to work in the round. To avoid gap of joining, transfer 1st stitch to third needle, then slip last stitch over this first stitch and transfer stitch to first needle.

With Barely Iced, knit 10 rounds.

Change to White Iced and knit 3 rounds.
